textile developing...

Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding, ori meaning folding and gami meaning paper. I have researched ways of using origami techniques using fabrics by looking at designers work, Izzy Miyake and yoto amgoto and many others, non of the techniques seem to fit my concept because the nature of folding is straight crisp lines and I need to create rounded natural forms. By sewing material under tension using sheering elastic when the tension is released the fabric folds creating an organic natural, fold.  This represents perfectly my concept of natural occurring conditions interpreting origami in an innovative way escaping from the traditional straight crisp folds that everyone seems to of explored fully.
